Sashiko - when mending becomes part of the design

2026-01-115 min

Why we chose sashiko at SpringButiken?

At SpringButiken, we don't believe in quick fixes that just hide a problem.

When a dog garment gets a tear, it's not just about sewing up a hole -

it's about giving the garment a new story.

That's why we chose sashiko.

Sashiko is a traditional Japanese mending technique based on patience, care and respect for the material.

Instead of trying to make the mending invisible, we let the stitches take place.

The result is a garment that no longer looks "broken" -

but unique, alive and personal.

When worn-out garments get a new lease of life

With sashiko, worn areas are transformed into details.

Each stitch carries time and care.

Each garment becomes unique - nothing can or should be exactly the same.

For us, this is more than mending.

It is a way to show respect for both the material and the four-legged friend who will wear the garment.

SpringButiken 'RE'pair Studio - for quadrupeds

This is just the beginning

Sashiko is the first step in SpringButiken'RE'pair Studio - for four-legged ones.

This is not just about repairing, but about rethinking, refining and extending the life of garments.

We will soon be introducing more techniques, new ideas and creative solutions -

always with sustainability, aesthetics and care in mind.

We don't just repair garments.

We give them a new life. ♻️🐾
