Is second hand hygienic for pets? I would never sell anything I wouldn't use myself. Here I tell you why.
This is one of the most common questions I get asked. But actually, it's not just a question - it's often about a hesitation, a certain distance and sometimes a sense of uncertainty. The idea "can I use something that someone else has had, for my own animal?" is very understandable. Because I've been there myself.
When I started SpringButiken, it was not primarily about selling. I knew that I would never be able to pass on anything that I didn't feel completely comfortable with. When I pick up a product, I think about it being used by an animal. That it will lie there, sleep on it, play with it, be near it. And every time I ask myself the same question: "Would I use this at home myself?" If the answer is not a clear yes, then it never ends up in the shop.
Second hand is often misunderstood. It is perceived as something old or less valuable. For me, it means something completely different. It's not about saving something from being thrown away, but about giving it a new value - with respect. But the most important thing in all this is safety. That's why every product goes through a careful process before it is sold. It is washed, cleaned and sanitised. Hair is removed by hand and every detail is checked. If something doesn't feel quite right, the process is repeated - or the product isn't sold at all.
Sometimes something needs mending. It might be a small tear that needs to be sewn up, or a fabric that needs to be reinforced. Sometimes it's just something that's no longer in use, but which - with the right care - can become valuable again.
For me, this is not just about selling products. It's also about showing that things can have a new life, without compromising safety. I never sell anything that I don't feel safe with myself. That's my most important principle.
Perhaps that's why many people who shop here say the same thing:"It doesn't feel like second hand." And that's not really surprising - it's not about the fact that something has been used, but about how it's taken care of.
